A mate came over the other night and asked me if the last year had gone as expected. It hasn't, but I suppose nothing ever does.

Moving to a whole new city alone and making it was something I never thought I would do. It would have been a lot different if I'd gotten into NIDA, I would have been able to go home pretty regularly, but being on the other side of the country that gets difficult. I miss my friends and family back home terribly, but have made a few mates I know I'll have forever, I'm training for an industry I love, and am already doing film work... all of it makes this tremendous upheaval totally worth it. Not to mention the fact I can go into a workshop now and be confident I wont manage to kill myself on the machines.

Next year will be different again. I'll actually have a position of responsibility within the Props and Scenery department hierachy, and a lot of the old faces will be gone. Sadly, most of the people I consider good mates are leaving which kinda sucks. Which actually leaves me kicking myself that I didn't apply for this course earlier.

Ahh well. Life huh?

At least I have a few weeks before I go home for Xmas to work on some of my own stuff. Zombie scorpion in the works, and giant LOTR tribute. Again. And finally some time to finish the life-size Jack Skellington!
